Samba Ceilidh

Dig out your dancing shoes, tart up your wheelchairs and celebrate in a big dance party that mixes dance from England and Brazil.

Dig out your dancing shoes, tart up your wheelchairs and ‘Boomba on down’ to Southbank Centre to celebrate disabled culture in this unique collaboration created by Gateshead’s Lawnmowers Theatre Company and Brazil’s Opaxoro Da Apae and Orquestra Sertao.

This specially created Samba Ceilidh draws on the rich popular traditions of Brazil and England. Join in to dance Ciranda, Samba de Roda, Lawnmowers Two Step, Witches Reel and more.

Samba Ceilidh is an extract from Boomba Down the Tyne, which is an Unlimited Commission for the Cultural Olympiad. Other partners on this project are Available Light, AV Works, Fiddlers Elbow, RhumbaPalace and Della’mimi.
